Brain settles for 20,000 euros with family that illegally offered e-books
A family that maintained a site with illegal e-books has reached a settlement with the Brein foundation for 20,000 euros. The woman in the family had already paid for operating another site with illegal e-books.
The income from the Boekshop.net site went to family members, Brein claims. That is why they have all signed a statement, in which they are jointly and severally liable for the abstention statement, in which they say that they no longer offer illegal e-books. The family tried to sell the e-books through advertisements on Marktplaats. Those are now gone.
It is unknown how many customers the webshop had and how many e-books they would have delivered. Brain often settles with providers of illegal content on the internet. They often pay an amount and agree not to offer illegal content anymore.
