The Amphia Hospital near Breda had to deal with a major computer failure on Friday evening. As a result, electronic patient records could not be viewed, and emergency operations had to be taken over by surrounding hospitals.

Omroep Brabant reports this on Saturday based on statements by spokeswoman Judith Jansen. Around 8.30 pm the systems of the Amphia Hospital were affected by the outage, which then lasted for several hours. It is not yet clear what caused the computer problems.

Due to the malfunction, doctors were unable to access the electronic patient files, although in many cases a paper file was still available. The supplier of the electronic files then solved the problems. In the end, the outage did not cause major problems, the hospital said, but patients had to be referred to surrounding hospitals in case of emergency.

It is not the first time that there has been a malfunction in the computer systems of the Brabant hospital. A few months ago, the network faced similar problems. Whether there is a connection is still being investigated.
