The American cloud service Box has taken over the start-up Streem. Streem released his Streem Drive in April; a program that gives users access to an unlimited amount of cloud storage via their desktop and mobile devices.

Box announces that Streem including employees will be taken over by the American company. Streem currently owns three products and names its lead product, StreemFS, a file system that efficiently utilizes Streem’s cloud storage as an unlimited hard drive expansion. Using proprietary stream and buffer algorithms, files stored in the cloud would open just as quickly as if they were stored locally. In this way, videos would also be able to be played without stuttering or other hindrance. Also, the startup owns a media player that can stream videos regardless of the file type of the original.

Streem says that all of the start-up’s products will be integrated into Box. Box’s upcoming new services are mainly mentioned as a solution for companies that own large amounts of data, such as media, entertainment and healthcare companies. Currently, Box is said to have approximately 25 million users across 225,000 companies. It is not yet clear when Streem’s services will be available in Box.
