Bosch will release a thermostat in April that will receive Alexa and ifttt support
Bosch announces that its new smart thermostat, developed by Nefit, will be on the market in April. According to the makers, the EasyControl offers an open interface ‘in time’ and will later receive support for Amazon Alexa and Ifttt.
It is not yet known from when the Bosch EasyControl can be used with the voice assistant Alexa and the If This Then That service. The manufacturer says only the smart thermostat and the corresponding Smart Radiator Thermostats will be available from April. Bosch has not yet announced prices.
The Bosch EasyControl was developed in Nefit Bosch’s R&D center in Deventer and is marketed under the Bosch brand name. The manufacturer claims that the thermostat offers possibilities for integration with other Bosch products and with ‘many other smart home applications’, because an open standard is used. The manufacturer does not provide further details.
Users can operate the EasyControl with an app, which is available for Android and iOS. The smart thermostat is equipped with RGB LEDs that project light onto the wall. When users turn the thermostat up or down, it’s shown with an orange or blue glow. Red light indicates a problem with the central heating system.
The EasyControl has a Coming Home function with presence detection, which learns when users come home and adjusts the temperature accordingly. Up to 24 different rooms can be controlled separately, in combination with the new smart radiator valves.
Furthermore, Bosch has built in an option that allows installers to monitor Nefit and Bosch devices remotely via the EasyControl. This works with the HomeCom Pro dashboard from Bosch, which installers can install on their PC. Users can indicate on their EasyControl thermostat whether data can be viewed remotely.
