Borderlands and Civ: Revolution no longer playable online on PS3

Borderlands and Civilization: Revolution will no longer be playable online via the PlayStation 3 from May 31, 2014, which has been announced by publisher 2K Games on its website. The publisher cites the offline GameSpy master servers as the reason.

Currently, 2K Games is investigating the possibility of migrating the GameSpy servers from the PS3 version of both games to other servers. The PC version of Borderlands and Civilization III and IV will temporarily not be playable online. The servers of these games will be migrated to Steamworks. During the migration, players can experience that, among other things, matchmaking does not work. Offline, however, the games should work flawlessly.

Furthermore, 2K Games is pulling the plug on the online function of seventeen other games, including Stronghold 2, NBA 2K10 and Top Spin 2. In addition, the DS version of Civilization: Revolution will no longer be playable online from May 31.

GameSpy announced in early April that its master servers will go offline on May 31. The GameSpy servers mainly provided lobbies, matchmaking, and leaderboards for older games, including Borderlands and Civilization: Revolution. EA previously let via Twitter know that it is working to keep Battlefield, which also runs on GameSpy servers, playable after May 31.
