Borderlands 3 comes out September 13 and is an Epic Games Store exclusive for six months
2K Games has confirmed that Borderlands 3 will be released on September 13. Both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and Windows versions will be released on that day. The PC version will only be available for purchase on the Epic Games Store for the first six months.
In a press release, 2K Games announced that the PC version of Borderlands 3 will also be available for purchase in other download stores from April 2020. The game will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store for the first six months.
The Windows version can be ordered for sixty euros and there is an eighty-euro version with more digital content. The most expensive version of 100 euros includes a Season Pass for future expansions.
Randy Pitchford, the CEO of developer Gearbox, said earlier this week on Twitter that the choice of download store is not up to the studio. 2K Games owns all rights when it comes to publishing the game and the publisher determines where the game will be released. Pitchford says he has no problem with temporary exclusives that don’t last too long, “say six months.”
Publisher 2K Games and developer Gearbox Software announced Borderlands 3 in late March. The release date and the game’s arrival to the Epic Games Store were already leaked this week. On May 1, the makers promise to show new gameplay footage.
