BOE shows first full-HD monitor with 500Hz refresh rate
Chinese screen manufacturer BOE has shown a 1080p monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate. It is the first monitor that supports this refresh rate. BOE is not currently reporting any details on pricing or availability.
The manufacturer reports on Chinese platform Sina that the screen will have a screen diagonal of 27″ with a full HD resolution. The monitor must offer a response time of 1ms and support 8bit output via an eDP connection with eight lanes. The screen will have an oxide backplane. It is further unknown what type of panel the screen has.
1080p monitors currently come with a maximum refresh rate of 360Hz. In the Pricewatch, such monitors are for sale for more than 500 euros. It is not yet known what monitors with BOE’s 500Hz panel will cost; the manufacturer does not announce when these panels will be on the market or what they will cost.
Furthermore, BOE shows an 8k screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a screen diagonal of 110″. That screen also gets an oxide backplane, but the manufacturer does not go into detail about that panel.
