Bluetooth certificate points to the arrival of Samsung Gear VR controller
Samsung has received a Bluetooth certificate for the Gear VR Controller. The manufacturer may soon announce a new version of its Gear VR headset, which will come with a controller. What the controller will look like is not yet known.
The bluetooth certificate, which was spotted by SamMobile, follows the approval of the FCC approval authority for the controller at the beginning of this week. Samsung has not officially announced any details about the controller, but it is probably a controller that is similar to the version that Google supplies with Daydream VR headsets.
In May last year, images of a Gear VR controller already appeared online. It had a gamepad-like design for two-handed use. Whether the controller will actually take that shape is not clear. A sketch was shown during FCC approval, but it only shows the battery compartment and does not clarify the design.
Samsung may introduce the controller together with a new version of the Gear VR headset. It is also possible that the accessory works in combination with the existing models. In any case, the controller will be connected to a smartphone via bluetooth.
