Bloomberg: Assassin’s Creed Rift Delayed To Spring 2023
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reports that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, codenamed Rift, has been delayed until spring 2023. Initially, the game should be released in February next year.
While discussing Ubisoft’s quarterly earnings earlier this week, the publisher announced that the release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be delayed to 2023 or even 2024, as well as delaying a “smaller, unannounced game.” Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier says this is about Assassin’s Creed Rift.
The game has not yet been officially announced by Ubisoft. In September, the company says it will reveal more information about the future of Assassin’s Creed. There may also be more known about the live service game Assassin’s Creed Infinity.
The new title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise may be set in the Middle East and was reportedly initially intended as an expansion for 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Instead, Ubisoft is said to have decided to make it a standalone title. the meager release schedule this fiscal year, Bloomberg said.
Although it’s only a few months, the delay does have an impact on Ubisoft’s accounting, as the current fiscal year ends in March. The upcoming AC game would now move to the next fiscal year.
