The upcoming Apple Watch Series 7 is rumored to have thinner screen bezels and an ultrawideband chip. Bloomberg reports this based on its own sources. The medium also states that the Series 7 probably won’t get a blood sugar sensor.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman writes that the Apple Watch Series 7 will get a faster soc, among other things. Gurman is generally knowledgable and known for his good resources at Apple. The wearable would also get improved wireless connectivity and an improved screen with smaller screen bezels. Analyst Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech previously published renders of a possible Apple Watch Series 7.

The manufacturer is also said to be testing a new lamination technique that brings the screen closer to the glass front. The Apple Watch Series 7 would be slightly thicker than previous models. Furthermore, according to Gurman, the upcoming Apple Watch will receive an ultrawideband chip. The same technology is used in Apple’s AirTags, among other things.

Apple is also currently working on a smartwatch with a sensor that measures blood sugar levels. According to previous rumors, such a sensor would be introduced in the Apple Watch Series 7, but Gurman states that this is very unlikely. “The blood sugar sensor will probably not be ready for commercial launch for a few years,” the journalist said. Apple is also said to be working on a body temperature sensor. Initially, the company wanted to include that sensor in the Series 7, but this is now expected in the Apple Watch models that come out in 2022, according to Bloomberg.

The manufacturer might also come out with a more robust sports model of the Apple Watch next year. Gurman previously wrote that such a sports model could be released as early as 2021, but the Bloomberg journalist is now adjusting these expectations to next year. Apple is also working on a new Apple Watch SE, which should also be released in 2022, according to Gurman.

It is not yet known when Apple will release its Series 7 smartwatch, although the company almost always introduces its Apple Watches together with a new iPhone model. This makes it likely that the Apple Watch Series 7 will appear in the second half of this year.
