Blockchain smartphone Solana Saga gets Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 soc and 6.67″ screen
Solana Mobile has revealed the specifications of the upcoming Saga blockchain smartphone. The spiritual successor to the Essential PH-1 will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and a 6.67-inch screen with a 1080p resolution.
The AMOLED screen has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and is powered by a 4110mAh battery that supports wireless charging using the Qi standard. There are also 12GB Lpddr5 ram and 512GB expandable storage space. Solana Mobile equips the smartphone with a 50MP main camera, in addition to a secondary lens with a resolution of 12 megapixels and a selfie camera from 16MP. The device gets an IP68 rating and runs on ‘a pure version’ of Android 13.
The Solana Saga costs roughly $1,000 and will be released in early 2023 in the US and Europe, among others. It is not known whether the same price in euros is charged for the European market. Interested parties can reserve a device with a deposit of 100 dollars.
The smartphone is the result of a collaboration between the blockchain platform Solana and the canceled OSOM OV1 privacy phone. The OSOM OV1 was then renamed to Saga and, in addition to greater control over privacy-sensitive functions, through the Web3 support, it focuses on ‘crypto enthusiasts and NFT collectors’. In the Seed Vault, for example, users could store passwords and keys in a secure area of the smartphone.
