Blizzard’s senior art director Samwise Didier is retiring after 32 years with the company. Didier worked on dozens of games in the Diablo, WoW and Starcraft series, among others.
Didier says that last Friday was his last day on the job and says Blizzard “was never just a job.” “I started with the company in 1991 and it immediately became my second home. I found out I had a family I didn’t know about! I grew up there. Everything I know now about game art, I learned there.”
Blizzards President Mike Ybarra says Didier for his work at Blizzard. “Your talent helped shape Blizzard’s signature style and I know many of our artists have learned a lot from you over the years.” Didier worked on recent games such as Diablo IV, Overwatch 2 and WarCraft III: Reforged to older games such as the first StarCraft and WarCraft.
