Blizzard’s latest game Overwatch is also coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game was originally announced for Windows only. In addition, it has been announced that the game should be released in the spring of 2016.

The news initially came out after employees of the US retail chain Gamestop informed their customers about the possibility to place a pre-order for the game for not only Windows, but also the other two platforms. Subsequently, a splash screen appeared on developer Blizzard’s Battle.net site advertising the platforms and release time. Meanwhile, the splash screen seems to have been removed from Battle.net.

Overwatch will be Blizzard’s first new franchise in a long time. Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo are all from the 90s. Blizzard announced the game at the 2014 edition of BlizzCon, its own fan show. The game is a multiplayer shooter that works with classes. Players can select a “hero” who falls within the offensive, defensive, support, or tower class. Within those classes fall various heroes, each of which has their own playing style. Two game modes are currently known: ‘payload’, where one team has to escort a vehicle to a certain point and the other team has to stop it, and ‘point capture’, where one team has to take over certain points in a level from the defending team.
