Blizzard not releasing Diablo 4 in 2021, working on Warcraft mobile games
Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will not be released this year, publisher Activision Blizzard announced during the publication of the quarterly figures. When both games will appear, the publisher did not make clear. The company is working on multiple Warcraft mobile games.
Activision Blizzard expects good results from Call of Duty, World of Warcraft and Candy Crush this year. “At the same time, we are making significant progress on our development pipeline for other important intellectual property, which we expect to grow further in 2022,” said Activision Blizzard. This shows that Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will no longer be released this year. It is not clear whether the publisher is referring to those titles with the expected growth in 2022.
Blizzard announced Diablo IV at its 2019 Blizzcon event. Diablo IV will be released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as a ‘base game’ and will include microtransactions, seasonal content and expansions. Overwatch 2 was also announced in 2019. That game will get a new PvP mode and new heroes, among other things, and will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One.
Blizzard also has several mobile and free-to-play “Warcraft experiences” under development, Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, said in a commentary on the quarterly earnings reported by Seeking Alpha. Rumors of a Warcraft mobile game have been circulating since 2017.
