Blizzard may be working on a new Overwatch game

Developer Blizzard seems to be working on a new Overwatch game. The company has placed a vacancy on its website for an intern for the position of general artist. One of the requirements is that the applicant must know and understand the Overwatch universe.

Blizzard speaks in the vacancy of an ‘unannounced project’. Further details are lacking. Perhaps the project concerns a single player for Overwatch, even though gave Blizzard still has no plans for that at the end of May. It could also be that the project is a spin-off, a successor or a mobile version of Overwatch.

In November 2016, Blizzard already posted a vacancy for a lead software engineer for an ‘unannounced first-person project’. To date, Overwatch is Blizzard’s only first-person game. The new vacancy does not mention the first person element.

The position is for an 11-12 week period beginning May 2018 and is for the Incubation division in the California office in Irvine, where Blizzard is developing future projects. These projects do not always lead to a game.
