Blizzard links flying in Draenor to time-consuming achievement
Starting September 2, players will be able to use their flying mount in Draenor, the newest continent in World of Warcraft. Before players can fly, they must meet a long series of conditions.
On September 2, Blizzard will release patch 6.2.2 for World of Warcraft. After the patch is released, players will be able to fly in Draenor, the continent that was added to the game with Warlords of Draenor. Originally, Blizzard had no intention of allowing the use of a flying mount in Draenor, but it has reversed that decision. Unlike in previous parts of the game, this time Blizzard has drawn up a long series of conditions that players must meet before they can fly in the new continent.
Players must complete the Draenor Pathfinder achievement, a five-part achievement. For example, players must find 100 of the 200 treasures hidden in the continent and complete the storyline in all five zones of Draenor, supplemented by six special daily group quests. In addition, players must achieve Revered status in three factions within the Tanaan Jungle zone and explore the continent to its farthest reaches. Anyone who achieves the achievement will receive a flying mount from Blizzard as a reward. It is the first time that Blizzard has imposed such strict conditions on obtaining the option to fly. In previous expansions, reaching a certain level with the game character and paying an amount of gold, the currency used in the game, was enough to be able to fly.
In addition to the option to fly, Blizzard introduces the new Mercenary Mode. This gives players who want to participate in player versus player battles the option of being hired by the opposing faction. Players belonging to the Horde can therefore compete with the Alliance and vice versa. With this Blizzard wants to accommodate players who have to wait a long time for a place with their own faction during Ashran battles or other Battlegrounds.
