Overwatch 2 can only be played through a battle.net account. Therefore let Blizzard know in a faq how console players can merge their Overwatch accounts. Players with an account with the Xbox, PlayStation or Switch version simply need to log in to Overwatch. There you will be asked which accounts they want to merge.

Once the desired accounts are selected and confirmed, the content from those accounts will be available on the battle.net account upon the release of Overwatch 2. If the player does not already have a battle.net account, they will be given the option to to make equal. The advancements and cosmetics PC players have in Overwatch 1 will automatically carry over to Overwatch 2.

Blizzard emphasizes that it is only possible to merge one account per platform. For example, if there are two PC accounts, those accounts cannot be combined. The same goes for multiple accounts on Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch.

Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4. The game consists of a pvp part, which is similar to its predecessor, and a new pve part with a story. Those two parts come out separately. Unlike its predecessor, Overwatch 2 will not contain loot boxes. Instead, cosmetics are for sale in a digital store. Blizzard has already indicated that it will soon stop selling loot boxes in Overwatch 1. In addition to progress and cosmetics, in-game money will also be carried over to Overwatch 2.
