Blizzard will release “substantial new content” for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including a new Warcraft mobile game. Blizzard does not provide further details about the mobile game. Blizzard announced the mobile game Diablo Immortal in 2018. That announcement received a lot of criticism, as players expected the arrival of a new Diablo game. The developer delayed the release until 2022. Blizzard reports that Diablo Immortal’s public testing period has been completed and has generated a lot of positive feedback.

Blizzard announced the arrival of the Warcraft mobile game during the publication of Activision Blizzard’s quarterly earnings. Activision also reported that Call of Duty: Vanguard is less popular than its 2020 predecessor Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. Call of Duty Mobile was more successful, with players spending more than $1 billion on the game in 2021. According to the publisher, the game is especially popular in China.

Activision Blizzard’s revenue fell 10 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021 to $2.16 billion, or $1.88 billion. The good results of subsidiary King, maker of Candy Crush, compensated for the poor results of Activision Blizzard. The number of monthly active players for Activision games fell 16 percent to 107 million and for Blizzard games by 17 percent to 24 million. The number of players of King games remained stable at 240 million.
