Blizzard is looking for new people for unannounced Diablo game
Blizzard is looking for 19 new employees to participate in an unannounced Diablo game. This is not Diablo: Immortal, which is listed separately in the list of vacancies.
Blizzard seems to be looking to expand the team working on a new Diablo game. Nineteen vacancies are listed in the list of vacancies on the company’s own website. The list contains the necessary leadership positions in the development team. For example, the developer is looking for a lead concept artist, senior lighting artist, senior technical artist, senior ui artist and senior software engineer. The studio is also looking for a quest designer and various graphic artists. All nineteen new employees will work on an ‘unannounced project’ that falls within the Diablo series. This is not about Diablo: Immortal, the mobile game that caused so much commotion when it was announced last fall. That game is listed separately in the list of vacancies. There are still two vacancies for that game.
Although Blizzard has not yet announced a successor to Diablo III, there have been rumors of a fourth installment in the series for quite some time. The game has been in development for several years, but not always to the full satisfaction of the company’s leadership. The game would even have had a full reboot in 2016. Blizzard would like to give the new game a more grim atmosphere, more in line with Diablo II than Diablo III. The studio was also said to have planned to announce the new installment at the last Blizzcon, but canceled just before the fan party because it was again dissatisfied with the result. Apparently it is now time to expand the team that is working on the game.
Blizzard repeatedly let go in the past year that it has several Diablo projects in development. Two of these are known. The unannounced game for which it is now looking for staff, and Diablo: Immortal, the mobile game it is developing together with the Chinese NetEase. The announcement of the latter game came under considerable criticism for the studio. Fans of the developer had expected more than a mobile game that seems to be mainly aimed at the Chinese market.
