Blizzard hints that Diablo III is coming to Nintendo Switch
Blizzard Entertainment has posted a video on Twitter that hints at the arrival of Diablo III on the Nintendo Switch. The cutscene shows the game’s logo on a light switch, or ‘switch’, which is turned on and off.
Blizzard posted the video with the caption ‘sweet dreams’. The publisher does not provide concrete information, but the fact that the video appears on the official Twitter account with a clear hint seems to indicate that there are plans for a Switch version of Diablo III.
Last week there was already a rumor that Diablo III would be coming to the Switch. Game journalist Marcus Sellars claims that the game is in development, but will not be released until early 2019. Blizzard would like to make it possible to play the game locally in multiplayer with multiple copies of the Switch.
Diablo III was released for PC in 2012. Later on, Blizzard also brought the RPG to the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The game is still actively supported and has received several expansions. For example, the publisher added the new Necromancer class in June last year.
Update 16:54: Blizzard told Polygon “it has nothing to announce” and that the tweet is intended as a “nice bit of involvement with the community”. However, the publisher also does not deny that the game may come to the Switch.
