Blizzard apologizes for Warcraft 3 remaster flaws and promises bug fixes
Blizzard apologizes for the dissatisfaction many gamers have with Warcraft 3: Reforged. The studio promises bug fixes, but also states that the absence of renewed ingame cutscenes was a conscious choice.
Blizzard wrote in a blog post that they are “sorry that some of the players didn’t get the experience they wanted.” A number of bugs should be fixed later this week, namely the different colors and shading. Portrait animations also need to be improved and audio and interface bugs need to be fixed.
Furthermore, Blizzard says that support for leaderboards, ranked matchmaking and clans is on the way. These features also disappeared for owners of the original WarCraft III, including the data contained therein, such as placements, clan names and the like. Blizzard does not mention a date for the reintroduction of these systems.
As for the ingame cutscenes, Blizzard holds up. The company says it “didn’t want to deviate too much from the original game” and that’s why these cutscenes haven’t been modified much. The animations are better, but the camera work, for example, has largely remained the same. When WarCraft III: Reforged was announced, Blizzard showed trailers in which the cutscenes had been significantly modified.
Blizzard will not comment on another pain point for players: that the terms of use agreement states that anything custom content created in the WarCraft III editor will now remain Blizzard’s property. This may have to do with Dota, which started as a WarCraft mod but grew into a gigantic game franchise in the hands of competitor Valve.
It was recently revealed that Blizzard has removed all restrictions on refunds from the game. Players can get a refund regardless of how long they have WarCraft III: Reforged in their account or how many hours they have played.
IGN made the above comparison with the announcement of the remake and images of the final release.
