Blizzard announced the first expansion for Diablo IV at Blizzcon 2023. The publisher also shows the three upcoming expansions for World of Warcraft, which together should tell an overarching story.

The Diablo IV expansion is called Vessel of Hatred and takes place in a jungle-like region called Nahantu. The DLC should continue the story of the main campaign and focuses on the villain Mephisto, the brother of Diablo and Baal. In addition promises Blizzard that the expansion introduces a new class “that has never appeared before in the Diablo franchise.” The publisher will not disclose any further information. Vessel of Hatred is scheduled for release in late 2024.

Furthermore, the three upcoming expansions for World of Warcraft have been revealed: The War Within, Midnight and The Last Titan. The three DLCs must tell an overarching story called The Worldsoul Saga. The first-mentioned extension is necessary will be released in 2024, which is also the year in which the franchise celebrates its twentieth anniversary. The War Within largely takes place on the planet Azeroth and initially contains four zones, eight dungeons, a raid and a new playable race. In addition, the DLC comes with the Warbands feature, which should make it possible to share progress with all player characters, regardless of faction. This makes it possible, among other things, to equalize the faction reputation for all characters on the same Battle.net account. The War Within will be the tenth expansion and follows 2022’s Dragonflight.

Finally, World of Warcraft: Classic will receive the DLC Cataclysm next year, which was already added to the regular version of the mmorpg in 2010. This version does come with a number of changes. For example, Blizzard promises that leveling should be more streamlined and faster and the Titan Rune dungeons from the Classic version of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion will return.
