BlackBerry is releasing version 10.3.1 of its mobile operating system for many of its devices. The update is not only coming to recent devices, but also to the two-year-old BlackBerry Z10.

For some devices, such as the Passport, it is an update from 10.3 to 10.3.1, but many people with devices that came out earlier are still on 10.2.1. For those users, 10.3.1 adds, among other things, the Amazon App Store, the download store of Android apps that BlackBerry has come with from 10.3 as standard, the manufacturer reports.

For the rest, 10.3.1 only brings bug fixes and general improvements for, among other things, the Passport. BlackBerry will release the update for all devices that already ran BB10, up to the Z10 from two years ago. It is unknown how long the Canadian smartphone maker will continue to support older devices.

The update will come over-the-air, with a notification in the Hub when the update is ready. Test versions of 10.3.1 for various devices have been online for months, but the manufacturer will only roll out the update from Thursday.
