The BlackBerry Motion smartphone from TCL will be released in November in the Benelux and will cost 469 euros. The waterproof Android device has a Snapdragon 625-soc, 4GB ram and a 5.5″ screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

It is the first BlackBerry that is dust and waterproof based on the IP67 rating. The device contains a 4000mAh battery and there is support for fast charging based on QuickCharge 3.0. The Snapdragon 625-soc, an octocore made at 14nm, is known for its good battery performance. TCL put the same soc in the BlackBerry KEYone smartphone. That device with keyboard has a slightly smaller battery of 3500mAh, but also managed to score well in battery tests.

The moment the Motion comes out, the device will run on Android 7.1, supplemented with BlackBerry security features. The device will receive monthly security updates and an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo next year. A new feature on the Motion smartphone is Locker, which allows users to store files on the internal memory of 32GB in a folder protected with a PIN code.

TCL announced the BlackBerry Motion earlier in October at a trade show in Dubai. The manufacturer said the device would be available in a limited number of markets. The device can be preordered in the Benelux from Tuesday and will be delivered in November.
