BlackBerry CEO: Also in 2016 new versions of BlackBerry 10

Recent reports suggested that BlackBerry has sidetracked its own operating system. BlackBerry CEO John Chen now says in a blog post that two new versions of the system are planned for this year with releases 10.3.3 and 10.3.4.

Chen says the company has no intention of leaving long-term BlackBerry 10 users out in the cold. The system is, in his words, ‘far from dead’. Earlier reports came out that for this year only Android devices will be released, which could not sound promising for BlackBerry 10 users.

In addition to the plans for the operating system, another Android phone is also planned. However, Chen does not reveal any additional details about that. The new versions of BlackBerry 10 are focused on security, the director said. For example, release 10.3.3 would meet the high security requirements of NIAP certification. The subsequent release would bring “further security improvements.”
