On Friday, February 18, the curtain falls for Liverpool-based Bizarre Creations. After Activision reported in January that it was unable to sell Bizarre, the publisher already issued advice to close the studio.

The final closing date is becoming reported by Develop. Activision Blizzard bought Bizarre in September 2007. The British studio developed the racing game Blur under Activision’s banner, but the title sold much worse than expected. That is why Activision decided not to continue with this series and in the end the publisher did not want to continue with Bizarre. Activision first tried to sell the developer, but when that failed, it was decided to close Bizarre’s doors. However, it was not yet known when the developer would close its doors. The studio had about 200 employees.

Bizarre Creations is best known for racing titles such as Project Gotham Racing and Blur. The development studio was founded in 1994, but has been operating under a different name since 1988. Bizarre earned its reputation in racing games during the first PlayStation. For this, the company was allowed to develop the successful Formula 1 ’97.
