BitTorrent announces paid version of Sync tool

BitTorrent has announced version 2.0 of its Sync software. For the first time, a paid Pro version has become available. The Pro version offers, among other things, synchronization of very large file volumes and the possibility to set folder permissions.

Version 2.0 of BitTorrent Sync, a synchronization tool based on the bittorrent protocol, offers in the free standard version, among other things, an improved interface on the mobile apps for Android and iOS as well as the desktop versions. Also the performance of the tool would have been improved. There are no limits on file size or number of files in a shared folder.

The new Pro version offers the possibility to set folder permissions for users of Sync. Also, Sync Pro could handle very large folders of several terabytes better and there are ‘on-demand’ synchronization options. Priority is also promised to the tech support department.

For the Pro version, which seems to be mainly aimed at the business market, BitTorrent uses a price per year. The price is USD 39.99 per year, or EUR 32. The Sync software should be available soon, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
