BioWare confirms new Dragon Age and possibly postpones Anthem until early 2019
Anthem, the multiplayer action game from developer BioWare, may have been delayed until early 2019. The website Kotaku reports that based on three sources. In addition, the studio has confirmed that a new Dragon Age game is in the works.
Dragon Age executive producer at BioWare, Mark Darrah, announced on Twitter that at BioWare people are “working hard” for the Anthem and Dragon Age franchise. He gave no further details about the Dragon Age project. It was previously announced that a project is being worked on in the Dragon Age franchise, but even then the details were missing.
In addition, Kotaku is citing sources that Anthem will be delayed until early 2019. According to one source, the multiplayer action game’s originally shared release window, Fall 2018, was “never realistic.” An exact release date is still unknown, but if the release has actually been delayed until early 2019, the game will probably be released before March 2019, Kotaku reports. In that month, the fiscal year of publisher Electronic Arts ends.
At the E3 trade show in Los Angeles in June 2017, BioWare first revealed that work is underway on the new game franchise Anthem. In gameplay footage published at the time, players were seen wearing exoskeletons in a detailed sci-fi world. BioWare calls Anthem a shared-world action-role-playing game; up to four players can simultaneously explore the game’s worlds, fighting monsters and other enemies in the missions. They can also expand or customize their equipment with new weapons and other properties.
Anthem is made by BioWare Edmonton, which also developed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The studio uses the Frostbite engine. A 4k version of the game is coming for the Xbox One X. Anthem is out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
