BioWare Austin comes with the first list of concepts that Anthem is working on
BioWare Austin has set out some outline on how it intends to innovate the game and give players a stronger sense of reward. The blog post focuses on the loot, or loot, which players can find in-game.
BioWare Austin star Christian Daley once again takes the floor, emphasizing that these ideas and plans stem from player feedback, but that these are not fixed promises. Nevertheless, he feels compelled to keep players informed, probably because they have already paid for it.
For example, Daley argues that finding specific loot should be made easier by using loot tables, so specific types of loot in specific places. Quests with specific rewards and specialized sellers should also make it easier for players to find certain equipment without having to spend an excessive amount of time in it.
Under the heading ‘respect your time’, Daley mentions increasing the frequency of loot drops, improving all loot without making extremely rare loot worthless, and giving all levels of rarity to loot a good use at any point in the game.
Then there is also the possibility of using weapons roll and too leveling, and Daley’s team is working on the idea of introducing a completely renewed equipment sheet. He has also posted a video of concepts such as the ‘loot piñata’ and the automatic picking up of loot.
Besides loot, Daley says she is working hard on gunplay: the feeling of shooting with the weapons and how enemies react to being hit. However, he will elaborate on this and other topics in future blog posts, he says.
Anthem was released in early 2019 and was largely negatively received due to technical issues and content shortcomings. EA and BioWare then decided to radically change the game. It is not yet certain when this major metamorphosis of Anthem will be released. BioWare Austin is working on the overhaul with a team of thirty people. He calls this a small team and that can make it a lengthy process, but the small size would also make the team more agile.
