Biostar Introduces G330 Series of SSDs
Biostar has announced a new range of SATA SSDs. It concerns the G330 series, which should perform better than the previously released G300 series. The 2.5″ SSDs in the new series will be available with a maximum storage capacity of 512GB.
According to Biostar, the SSDs in the G330 perform about 10 percent better than the models in the previous G300 series. The whole is made up of 3d-tlc memory from Micron and there is 256MB to 512MB dram cache available. The control is done with an SMI 2258 controller. According to Biostar, this leads to maximum read and write speeds of 565MB/s and 515MB/s respectively. That applies to the variants with 256GB and 512GB storage, while the one with 128GB storage is slightly less fast.
Furthermore, the housing of the G330 SSDs is approximately 6.8 mm high, and must be able to withstand temperatures of up to 70 degrees. Biostar says that the new series of SSDs can withstand the heat better than previous models. A three-year warranty is provided by the manufacturer.
The new SSDs are sold with a price starting at 59 dollars, which translates to 54 euros. That price applies to the 128GB version; for the 256GB version and 512GB version, respectively, you have to pay $99 and $169.
Biostar announced the G300 series of SSDs in August last year. These were the company’s first SSDs, aimed at gamers. With the G330, it is also targeting gaming consumers again.
