Bing is working on option to delete search results
Bing, Microsoft’s search engine, has indicated that it is working on a way for Europeans to request that certain information be removed. Google already offers such an option.
A help page states that Bing is currently developing a procedure to allow Europeans to request the removal of search results from the search engine. According to Bing, it will take some time before a form becomes available to submit such removal requests. Microsoft mentions that there is still a lot of uncertainty about how the ruling of the European Court should be implemented in practice. Bing promises to provide more information about his plans soon.
Google already has a form online for removal requests. The form is a result of a ruling by the European Court, which ruled a few weeks ago that search engines should allow the removal of search results. According to the Court, the point is that the search results violate privacy law and Europeans should therefore have the right ‘to be forgotten’.
