Billboard shows back of unannounced Sony Xperia 1 V

Sony appears to have prematurely placed a billboard of its Xperia 1 V smartphone in Hong Kong. The advertisement shows that the manufacturer will emphasize the new technology of the camera sensors.

Reddit user LOL5552 the billboard mockedbut also Sumahodigest seems to have seen the commercial. The Chinese text on the image indicates that Sony will emphasize the new technology of the cameras.

It is a Lytia sensor with separated pixel layers. The sensors differ from current models because the transistors and photodiodes have been separated from each other for the first time in the pixel layer. This makes more surface area available for the photodiodes, meaning that a pixel with the same surface area can capture more light. In the new design, the transistors are located behind the diodes. That camera is also in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

Earlier, a rumor came out with some specs of the phone. Just like its predecessor, the 161×69.3×8.5 mm. The headphone jack, shutter button and on/off button with fingerprint reader are unchanged compared to the predecessor.

Sony has planned an event for next Thursday, May 11, to announce the phone. The Xperia 1 is the manufacturer’s top model and the 1 V is its fifth generation.
