Bigben’s case hints at the arrival of smaller Nintendo ‘Mini Switch’

A German website has published a photo of a protective cover of Bigben for what appears to be a smaller version of the Nintendo Switch. A render has also been made of the ‘Mini Switch 2’, as the device may be called, based on the packaging.

German tech site Winfuture.de has published a render and packaging image of what may be the new smaller Switch. The device is shown in a silicone protective cover from accessory manufacturer Bigben. The site also claims to have a ‘real’ photo of the packaging of this cover. Incidentally, the console is not called a Mini Switch, but Mini Switch 2. Perhaps Bigben is still waiting for the final name.

Both images are from Roland Quandt. Like previous leaked accessories, Bigben’s protective cover hints at a device with the same controls as on the original Nintendo Switch. Only the ‘Mini Switch’ has no detachable Joy-Con controllers, but the d-pad, analog sticks and buttons seem to be on the console.

More and more accessories are popping up that may refer to a soon-to-be introduction of a smaller Nintendo Switch. The Mini Switch is expected to be both slightly smaller and cheaper than the regular Switch. The new console will probably get the same Nvidia Tegra X1 soc, so that the device will offer comparable performance compared to the regular Switch.

Winfuture does not rule out the possibility that two new Switch consoles are in the works: a lite version, in the form of the Mini Switch, and a pro edition for the more demanding gamer. According to the site, that could also be an explanation for the name ‘Mini Switch 2’ used by Big Ben.
