Among the job advertisements of developer 38 Studios are a number of vacancies for subsidiary Big Huge Games, which indicate that BHG is working on a new RPG, which will also appear for consoles.

Developer 38 Studios is looking for a ‘senior ps3 programmer,’ a ‘art director‘ and a ‘narrative designer.’ The trio is to strengthen the team of Big Huge Games, the developer that took over 38 Studios from the ailing publisher THQ in May. The art director is asking for someone who has “experience leading an art team on games for PC and consoles. Experience with RPG or open world games is a great added value.’ That seems to be an indication that Big Huge Games is working on an RPG. So far, 38 Studios has not revealed what Big Huge Games is working on.

Just before the takeover leaked find out what Big Huge Games was doing when it was put on sale by THQ. Best known for the rts Rise of Nations, the developer had two games in production when it was put up for sale: a Wii game dubbed “God: The Game” and a project titled “Ascendant.” . The latter game would be a fantasy RPG for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and Ascendant would be further in development than the Wii game. It is not clear from the job advertisements, but Big Huge Games may continue to work on Ascendant, although it is not clear whether Big Huge Games or 38 Studios owns the rights to the name.
