For a long time, Duke Nukem Forever was the game that was in development the longest before release, but now Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in development for longer. It’s been 5239 days since Ubisoft announced the game, while Duke Nukem Forever ‘already’ appeared after 5156 days.

Ubisoft announced Beyond Good & Evil 2 in 2008, but it’s still unclear when the game will be released. There have been several updates from Ubisoft about the game over the years, but according to a rumor from earlier this year, the game is still in pre-production. In this phase, concepts and ideas surrounding the game are devised and development is planned.

Should the game actually come out, there would have been more time between the game’s release and the announcement than with current record holder Duke Nukem Forever. After all, that game appeared in 2011, after it was announced in 1997, and turned out not to be worth the long wait. There were 5156 days between release and announcement of the Duke Nukem game; less than the amount of days between the announcement of Beyond Good & Evil 2 and now, noted GamesIndustry.biz editor-in-chief Brendan Sinclair.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a third-person, open-world action game set before the events of the first game. That first game was released in 2003. The sequel should, if it still appears, get a co-op mode and new characters.
