‘Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in pre-production’
Nearly five years after the famous E3 cg trailer, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in pre-production, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. In addition, the game journalist comes with more information from inside the French publisher Ubisoft.
Schreier relies on his sources who are “familiar” with Ubisoft’s projects. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is “at least five years in development” and has not yet left the pre-production phase. That phase involves planning the game; during this period, concepts and design documents are drawn up. Even before the unveiling in 2017, the announcement was made in 2008, although development probably also came to a halt between 2008 and 2017.
Schreier further reports that Ubisoft has developed an Assassin’s Creed expansion into a full game due to a shortage of titles to release. The expansion was originally going to be for AC: Valhalla, but that will be a full game starring Valhalla character Basim. The game should be out this year or next year.
Bloomberg has asked Ubisoft for comment, but it hasn’t given it, because “responding to rumors and speculation is not helpful to our developers and community.”
