Bethesda takes its own game launcher off the air in May

Bethesda has decided to pull the plug on the Bethesda Launcher. Users will be able to transfer the games they have in the launcher to Steam from April. As of May, the Bethesda Launcher will no longer be available.

It is unknown why Bethesda is discontinuing its launcher. The games that can be played via the Bethesda Launcher are: Fallout 76, Doom: Eternal, Rage 2 and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Bethesda reports on a FAQ page that all purchased items, games and the user’s friends list are available on Steam, if they have their Bethesda.net account linked to their Steam account.

Most game saves are automatically included as well. However, some saves need to be transferred manually. Bethesda promises to provide more information about that later. Furthermore, the public test server of Fallout 76 is now only available via Steam.

Almost all Bethesda Launcher games can be ported to Steam, with the exception of Wolfenstein: Youngblood. The developer does not report why this is not possible and when it is possible.

The launcher will be available until May. Bethesda recommends that users start transferring their games as soon as possible.
