Bethesda Releases 120fps Update for Quake on Xbox Series X|S and PS5
Bethesda has released the next-gen update for Quake. That means owners of this August-released enhanced version of the original shooter can now play in 4k at 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
This is a free update for players who have purchased the upgraded version of Quake, but the update is also available to those who play the game through the Game Pass subscription. This new version of Quake was released in August and already supported resolutions up to 4k, but the 120fps combination was not yet available at that time. This combination was already possible on PC. There is also support for Xbox Play Anywhere functionality for Xbox Series X and S players, and on the PS5 there is support for the adaptive triggers and the integrated speaker of the DualSense controller.
Players who purchased the title for Xbox One or PlayStation 4 can also upgrade to the next-gen version if they want to port the game to an Xbox Series console or a PS5. With Xbox consoles, this is done automatically via Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system; in the transition from the PlayStation 4 to the PlayStation 5, getting the next-gen version will go through the Game Hub in the PS5 interface or via the PlayStation Store.
The enhanced version of Quake includes the base game, the two official expansions, and two additional expansions created by Machine Games. That’s the developer of Wolfenstein: The New Order.
