Bethesda registers Fallout 4 brand in Europe
Publisher Bethesda Softworks has registered the brand name Fallout 4 in Europe. That, in combination with the website around The Survivor 2299, which appeared online at the end of last week, seems to indicate that the publisher will announce the new part in the rpg series soon.
Not only registered Bethesda branded Fallout 4 at the European brand agency, the company also released a teaser site online for the title The Survivor 2299. On Reddit speculate gamers that The Survivor 2299 is in reality a new Fallout game. The teaser site currently only contains a logo and a countdown that counts down to December 11, 2013. Bethesda Softworks may announce more about Fallout 4 or The Survivor 2299 on that date, if it is a separate game.
In any case, there seems to be a relationship between the Fallout series and The Survivor 2299: below the countdown is a logo of vault-tec, which is known from previous Fallout games. The still unannounced game would be the first Fallout game since the 2010 Fallout: New Vegas, but that game was not developed by Bethesda itself. Fallout 3 from 2008 was the last Fallout game that Bethesda made itself.
While it seems logical to assume that Bethesda will share more information about Fallout 4 on the day the countdown ends, it’s worth noting that the date passes another potential “announcement moment.” On December 7, four days before the countdown ends, the annual SpikeTV Video Game Awards, which this year are called ‘The VGX’, will be held. The games award show accounts for a series of announcements each year. For example, in December 2010, Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was announced during the VGAs.
