Bethesda opens new game studio in Montreal
Bethesda Game Studios opens a new studio in Montreal, Canada. The makers of games such as Fallout 4 and The Elders Scroll V: Skyrim want to expand their capacity to develop games.
Bethesda has no specific plans yet with the new game studio in Montreal. The company said the expansion is intended to increase capacity for console, PC and mobile game development. Todd Howard, executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios, says he has been working with talented developers in Montreal for some time. The time would now be right to open a studio.
A team of 40 developers has already been brought together for the new team, Bethesda Game Studios Montreal. It would be developers engaged in developing games for consoles and mobile devices. Yves Lachance takes charge of the studio; he is a veteran of the gaming industry, according to Bethesda. There are also several open vacancies.
Although Bethesda is known for games with huge open worlds and has probably released one of the best-selling games of 2015 with Fallout 4 this year, it is a relatively small studio. Fallout 4 would have been worked with about a hundred people. By comparison, Ubisoft was already working with 900 people on Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag in 2013.
