Bethesda Announces First Three DLC Packs for Fallout 4
Bethesda has revealed details and prizes for Automatron, Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbor. The DLC packs for Fallout 4 will be released in March, April and May respectively. More expansions will come later, so the price of the season pass will go up.
In March, Bethesda will release the first DLC pack with additional content for Fallout 4. The DLC will be titled Automatron and will cost $9.99. In the expansion, the mysterious ‘Mechanist’ has unleashed a horde of evil robots across the Commonwealth. The player’s job is to hunt the robots. Players can then create their own custom robot companions using the parts of the demolished robots. According to Bethesda, there are hundreds of mods available and the robots’ limbs, armor, and abilities can be customized to your liking. The update also brings new weapons, including a lightning chain gun.
Then, in April, the Wasteland Workshop DLC will be released for $4.99. This pack adds the ability to place cages in the wasteland to trap living creatures. “From raiders to Deathclaws,” Bethesda said. Captured creatures can then be tamed for use in combat. The dlc also contains new items that can be used to build settlements. Whether the dlc also adds missions is not known.
Far Harbor will be released in May, the largest DLC with a price tag of 24.99 euros. This expansion adds a new case to Valentine’s detective agency. In the case, the player must search for a young woman and a hidden colony of synths. The DLC takes players to a new area: the island of Far Harbor, where high levels of radiation dominate the landscape and population. According to Bethesda, the DLC contains the largest “landmass” the studio has ever added in a download package. Far Harbor adds several new faction quests, settlements, creatures and dungeons.
Bethesda emphasizes that these are the first three packs and that more DLC content will follow. That is why the studio has decided to make the season pass, which now has a suggested retail price of 29.99 euros, more expensive. After March 1, this ‘free ticket’ will cost 49.99 euros for all DLCs. Those who have already bought the season pass, or who do so before March, will also receive all the content that will follow after the first three DLCs that have now been announced.
On both consoles and PC, Bethesda will conduct closed beta testing of the DLCs before they are released to the market. Those interested can sign up at Bethesda.net. The participants for the beta will be selected in the coming weeks. Beta testers get early access to the full expansions and don’t have to buy the DLCs later.
Bethesda also announces that the studio will continue to provide Fallout 4 with updates and will also add new features separately from the DLCs. Earlier, the studio announced that the survival mode will be overhauled, which is now confirmed. Bethesda is also currently testing the Creation Kit, which allows players to create mods for the game. When this kit will be released is not yet known, but the studio says it will give more details soon.
