Bethesda Announces Creation Club for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Paid Content
Bethesda kicks off the Creation Club for Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition. Players can purchase new original content for the games with credits. According to the publisher, it is not an initiative for paid mods.
Through the Creation Club, players with credits can purchase weapons, equipment, locations, characters and game modes, among other things. These are partly made by Bethesda studios, but third parties can also participate, with the publisher paying them. The company ensures that content in the marketplaces is compatible with the games and add-ons.
Players can purchase credits for the marketplaces in Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition via PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam. It concerns exclusively new additions to be developed; existing mods and items cannot be placed in the marketplaces for a fee. Partly for this reason, Bethesda emphasizes that it is not about paid mods.
“Mods remain a free and open system where anyone can create and share whatever they want.” The publisher would have looked at systems for paid mods, but the advantages would not outweigh the disadvantages. The Creation Club will be available this summer for Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
