Bethesda adds extended Survival mode to Fallout 4 beta for PC voor
PC gamers can now get started with Fallout 4’s new Survival mode. Bethesda added the extra high difficulty with a beta update on Steam. Soon the feature will be officially released and the console versions will also get Survival mode.
At the end of February, many details of the Survival mode already leaked out. Bethesda also admitted at the time that these were correct. Now the publisher has written an extensive article in which he explains all the new elements. While many details are given about new things that players should be aware of, Bethesda also says that it is deliberately withholding some information, so that gamers who get started with the Survival mode will occasionally be surprised.
As you know, players will have to deal with the new ‘Adrenaline perk’; which affects the damage a player can inflict. After each kill, the damage percentage increases by 5 percent, up to a maximum of 50 percent. However, players also need to rest by sleeping, which is the only way to save the game. Sleeping lowers the adrenaline percentage. The longer the night’s rest, the lower the adrenaline.
Bethesda has paid attention to many small details. For example, the quality of the bed affects how long the character can sleep and thus how much the player can recover. It is also possible to get sick; players should keep a close eye on their resistance. Antibiotics can be taken to recover from an acquired infection. Several existing items in the game, such as drugs and RadAway, affect the character’s resistance. Taking RadAway to reduce radiation is therefore no longer without risk.
Fast Travel is not possible in Survival mode. All items, including bullets, are also given a weight, so that less can be stored in the inventory. In addition, players can carry less with them. Furthermore, players must ensure that they do not become hungry or thirsty by eating and drinking well. If you don’t, you get tired. Fatigue affects the player’s Action Points. As a result, a tired character can run less and perform fewer actions in VATS.
Many fanatical Fallout players criticized the original Survival mode in Fallout 4. The highest difficulty level makes the game more difficult, for example because enemies die less easily, but it adds few extra elements. That was the case in previous Fallout games. The new Survival mode is actually more extensive than that in previous games in the series.
When the Survival mode will be officially released is not yet known. By opting for updates from the beta channel on Steam, PC gamers can now get started with the new difficulty setting. Bethesda has set up a forum for the gamers who do so, so that they can provide feedback and share experiences.
