Bethesda has released an update for Doom. The update adds a new game mode and bots to the game’s multiplayer. Furthermore, the update removes the DRM software Denuvo from the game.

In the Infernal Run game mode, teams fight against each other to steal a ball and score into the opponents’ goal. In addition, bots are now available in Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch game modes, and the maximum number of times a player can perform an ‘Echelon’, or level reset, has been increased to eleven. Players who have reached the highest level in Echelon 11 will receive a new appearance for their character. Finally, Bethesda has made a list of improvements to SnapMap, the tool for creating your own game worlds.

According to TorrentFreak, the update removed Denuvo from the game. Denuvo is relatively strong DRM software, which has been able to prevent many games from being cracked to date. However, the software isn’t perfect, as Doom was illegal to download pretty soon after it came out. A user on Reddit, who claims to work for a game studio, says that Denuvo guarantees the game will not be cracked for three months. If that does happen, there is no need to pay for the use of the DRM provided it is removed from the game. According to the redditor, using the software costs several million dollars.

Removing the drm makes it easier for users to share the game with others and modify it. In addition, a computer no longer needs to be connected to the internet once every 24 hours to verify the activation of the game.
