Beta version Telegram for Android includes support for video calling
The latest beta version of the chat app Telegram for Android includes video calling support. It is unknown when the feature will be in the stable version of the app. Users can now only make audio calls.
Telegram hinted last month on the arrival of video calling via the app and now Android Police found support for the function in the beta version that can be downloaded via App Center. There is also support for picture-in-picture, but support for calling multiple people at the same time is not available in the current version.
The video call button is at the top right of the menu, just below the call button. The beta version runs on a phone alongside the regular version and does not update itself; users need to manually download and install apk files. Telegram’s biggest competitor, WhatsApp, has been supporting video calling for several years.
