Beta photo editing program Affinity Photo comes out for Windows

Developer Serif has released a beta of the photo editing program Affinity Photo for Windows. The program is supposed to be an alternative to Photoshop and is already popular on Apple’s operating system macOS.

Serif does not charge for the beta version that the company announces on its own site. The test version for macOS also cost no money, but the company asked fifty euros for the final version. Competitor Adobe only sells Photoshop with a monthly subscription.

The variant for Windows is a one-to-one copy of that for macOS in terms of functionality, the developer says. Affinity Photo came out as a beta for OS X in early 2015 and the final version has been on sale since the middle of that year for 49.99 euros. The package can handle raw files and PSD files from Photoshop can also be opened in the software.

Affinity Photo is suitable for Windows 7, 8 and 10. Affinity Designer came out this summer as a beta for Windows.
