Beta for WhatsApp on iPhone includes dark mode
WhatsApp is releasing a beta of its iOS app that includes a dark mode option. This is evident from reports from users who participate in Apple’s TestFlight program for WhatsApp.
MacRumors shows a screenshot of a page showing the availability of version 2.20.30.13 of WhatsApp for iOS and stating that the dark mode is being tested for that version. That message follows news from WABetainfo from earlier this week that a small group of test users were already able to run dark mode on a pre-release build version. Several users show in response to that tweet that they can indeed use the dark view.
This indicates that the feature will soon be available for every WhatsApp user on iOS. At the end of January, the dark mode appeared in the beta version of the WhatsApp app on Android. Unlike Android, iOS users can’t easily try out the feature: they have to participate in the Testflight program, which doesn’t accept new registrations.
The first reports about a dark mode that WhatsApp would be working on date back to 2018.
