BenQ Introduces 4K Monitor for Photography
BenQ has announced a monitor made for use in photo editing. The SW320 features a 31.5″ IPS panel that can display 99 percent of the Adobe RGB color gamut and 100 percent of the sRGB gamut.
According to BenQ, the monitor supports 10-bit color depth. The contrast of the monitor is 1000:1 and the maximum brightness is 350cd/m2. The resolution is 3840×2160 pixels. As usual with IPS panels, the screen has viewing angles of 178 degrees. The screen has a refresh rate of 60Hz and a response time of 5ms. BenQ claims that the monitor supports HDR images, but since the contrast of the screen is a normal 1000:1 for IPS panels, these images are presumably displayed as SDR.
The monitor can be connected with hdmi 2.0, displayport 1.4 or mini-displayport 1.4. There are two USB 3.0 ports and a card reader built-in, plus an extra USB 2.0 port to which a module with hot keys can be connected. The monitor stand allows the screen to be set in either landscape or portrait orientation. Furthermore, the screen can be rotated and tilted.
BenQ has not announced when the screen will be available. At the time of writing, the product is in the Pricewatch for about 1500 euros, but is not yet available.
