BenQ has announced its first OLED monitor: the MOBIUZ EX480UZ. It is a 48″ 4k monitor with a 120Hz refresh rate. BenQ is also showing two other new gaming monitors at the gamescom fair in Cologne, Germany.

Like the OLED monitors from ASUS and Gigabyte, among others, the new EX480UZ is presumably based on a WBE wool panel from LG. The screen has a matte coating that makes the surface look about the same as that of the average LCD monitor. Most OLED televisions have a mirrored screen surface. ASUS and LG previously also announced a matte OLED monitor, in the form of the PG48UQ and 48GQ900.

BenQ promises a 0.1ms response time, 10bit color gradation, and VESA DisplayHDR400 True Black certification for the EX480UZ. The screen features FreeSync Premium and BenQ’s HDRi technology. The manufacturer has also added a kvm switch. The HDMI 2.1 ports on the screen should be able to handle the full 48Gbit bandwidth, so 4k display at 120Hz should not be accompanied by visible color compression. You can switch between inputs via the supplied remote control. Just like a television, the screen can assign certain picture settings to a certain input, so that you can switch between them more quickly. BenQ calls this ‘scenario mapping’.

BenQ Mobiuz EX480UZ, EX270M and EX270QM

In addition to the EX480UZ, BenQ comes with two other Mobiuz monitors: the EX270M and EX270QM. These 27″ LCD monitors have a 240Hz refresh rate. The manufacturer promises a gtg response time of 1ms. Both screens have an ips panel, with the EX270M having a full HD resolution, 1920×1080, and the EX270QM a wqhd- resolution, 2560×1440. The latest model is Vesa DisplayHDR600 certified and also has HDMI 2.1 inputs. Both displays have a height-adjustable stand, remote control and support the same scenario mapping function as the large screen.

The three monitors will be available in the Benelux from September or October. The EX480UZ will cost 1999 euros, while the EX270M will receive 399 euros as a suggested retail price. The EX270QM should be sold for 799 euros.
