Belkin will discontinue support for its Wemo NetCam products on May 29, 2020. The company is doing this because the video platform Belkin was using is shutting down. Users with a Wemo NetCam that is still under warranty will receive a full refund.

Belkin makes this known on its website. The company uses the iSecurity+ video service for its Wemo NetCam products, but the service will end on May 29. On this date, all Wemo NetCam servers will be taken offline. Wemo NetCam products will still be able to connect to a Wi-Fi network after May 29, but without these servers users will no longer be able to view the webcam’s video feed. Other features, including motion notifications, are also no longer supported after the servers are offline. The cameras will also no longer function as motion sensors after May 29. Belkin also states that the products cannot be used with third-party software, because the cameras are completely dependent on iSecurity+.

Users who own a Wemo NetCam that is still under warranty will receive a full refund of purchase, subject to proof of purchase. To do this, the product must have been purchased after April 1, 2018. The purchase date must be visible on the receipt. People who have an active iSecurity+ subscription for at least seven days after May 29 will also receive a refund for the unused portion of the subscription. Users can request a refund through the Belkin website between April 28 and July 30.
